Bringing the Power of eBPF to QEMU - Chen Zhang, Intel
Bringing the Power of eBPF to QEMU - Chen Zhang, Intel
Bringing the Power of eBPF to QEMU - Chen Zhang, Intel eBPF is a revolutionary technology that can run sandboxed programs in an operating system kernel. It is used to safely and efficiently extend the capabilities of the kernel without requiring to change kernel source code or load kernel modules even at runtime. KVM already got benefits from it, but QEMU did not. Hence we want to bring the power of eBPF to QEMU. The iovisor/ubpf project aims to create an Apache-licensed library for executing eBPF programs, including an eBPF assembler, disassembler, interpreter, and JIT compiler (for x86-64 and Arm64 targets). We enable QEMU userspace eBPF infrastructure based on this project. In this talk, we will discuss the current development and future direction of userspace eBPF in QEMU, for details: • Background of eBPF usage and status. • User space eBPF status including Intel DPDK eBPF/windows eBPF, etc… • QEMU userspace eBPF infrastructure design and implementation. • The first used module: userspace eBPF network filter. • Future use cases of userspace eBPF. • Introduce usage and demo, including how to use clang to compile your own eBPF C program and load it to QEMU.

GnuPG 2.3.8 released
GnuPG 2.3.8 released
Version 2.3.8 of the GNU Privacy Guard is out. It contains a few new features but the real purpose is to fix CVE-2022-3515, an integer overflow vulnerability that can be exploited remotely for code execution via a, for example, malicious S/MIME attachment. Note that the actual vulnerability is in the libksba library, which is normally packaged separately on Linux systems.
